NASKA RATING RULES 2008
VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!!
NASKA tabulates points for thousands of competitors each year ranging from four-year-old beginner white belts to senior black belts in hundreds of
divisions. These tabulated points determine seeding of competitors at world and national tournaments and determine NASKA's end of year World and National champions. When determining these World and National champions,
it is essential that the point tabulations be accurate and timely. Each member can help greatly in the accuracy of the ratings by understanding and following the NASKA Rating Rules.
1. POINT TABULATION RECORD SHEETS: In each membership package there will be a point tabulations sheet. This tabulation sheet is for you to keep
a record of your personal competition wins in NASKA world, national and state tournaments. These tabulations sheets must be fully filled out and mailed, faxed or e-mailed (prefer e-mailing them to save time) (NASKA_LC@msn.com) to the NASKA ratings office after each NASKA tournament you enter. Always keep an original tabulations
sheet for your records. Please send in your results immediately after each tournament you compete in. A new updated rating is updated for each World Tournament. To guarantee your current results will be included on each updated ratings, you must have your tabulation sheet in the NASKA office within five (5) days after the conclusion of each World tournament
. Do not wait and send several tournaments at one time. Most errors occur when the office is entering a long list of tournaments results rather than one tournament at a time. It is best to send your
entire list of tournaments each time rather than just the last tournament you entered. Once the ratings office receives your tabulations sheet, your results will be checked and then compiled in your computerized
membership file.
Your competition points will not be tabulated into your file until we receive your tabulation sheet. The promoter's results will be used to check the competitor's tabulation sheet creating a double-checking procedure for accuracy if there are any discrepancies or protest form competitors or promoters.
2. MOST COMPETITORS CAN NOW ENTER AND BE RATED IN ONE TRADITIONAL WEAPON, ONE CREATIVE WEAPON (music optional), ONE EXTREME WEAPON, ONE TRADITIONAL FROM, ONE CREATIVE FORM, ONE MUSICAL FORM, ONE EXTREME FORM AND ONE SPARRING DIVISION. World
tournament scores will be used in determining the world champions. All world, national & state points will be used in determining the national champions. All of a competitors world tournament scores will
count toward his/her world rating. World Black Belt Team Synchronized Form, Demonstration and Men and Women Team sparring will be rated as well
3. The 2008 NASKA ratings will begin after the 3rd world tournament of the year. The 2007 World ratings will be used for seeding at the first 3 world tournaments of 2008. The new 2008 NASKA ratings will first be used to seed competitors at the 4th world tournament of the year.
TO ENSURE ACCURATE COMPETITION RESULTS, PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE RATING GUIDELINES BELOW:
1. Make sure the tournaments you are entering are NASKA rated and note the type of rating they hold (1-A, 2-A, 3-A, 4-A, 5-A, State). Make sure you
know the correct name of the tournament. Keep a flyer of the tournament in case there is a question whether the tournament was officially rated by NASKA.
2. You must be a current registered NASKA member with a current NASKA membership application filled out and on file in the NASKA office.
3. A member must register by October 31st of the current rating year to receive retroactive points from January 1. If you register after October 31st,
only those tournaments you enter after your enrollment date will count toward your yearly point total.
4. The NASKA rating period is on a calendar year (January thru December).
5. Make sure you put your name and NASKA I. D. number on your point tabulation sheet. Many tabulation sheets have been sent to the NASKA office
without a name or ID number listed.
6. Make sure you write in the division/s in which you want to be rated. Please include the following: Age (age group you competed in),
rating category (black belt, advance belt, intermediate, and beginner), weight division, form style, (examples: Traditional, Creative, Musical, etc.) All the rated divisions are on the membership
application (see membership application). If you change divisions because of age, weight, style, rank change, etc., note the change on your tabulation sheet and when you changed divisions. Rated Categories: Black
Belt, Advance (usually red and brown), Intermediate (usually green, purple, blue), beginner (usually white, orange, gold or yellow).
7. All competitors have the right to compete in one age group for the whole calendar year. A competitor can compete for the entire calendar year
at the age he/she is on June 30 of that year (See Legal Age Rule in the NASKA rule book.)
8. Transfer Of Points: Black Belt Divisions: No points can be transferred from any under black belt division into a black belt
division. No points can be transferred from one black belt division to another. You can only earn point in the black belt division/s you compete in. If you compete in several different black belt divisions
and win, you will be rated in each division. Beginner, Intermediate and Advance: If a competitor transfers from a beginner to an intermediate or from an intermediate to an advance category, he/she
can transfer approximately (some points cannot be transferred exactly by ½) one half of the points they earned in the lower category to the higher category. The points will not be transferred
automatically. The points will go into the division where they were won. If you choose to transfer ½ of the points in the lower division to the higher division, you must notify the NASKA office. All "World"
points earned go into both the World and National ratings. All "A", "AA", and "State" points go into the National Ratings only. Please note the point total values on the tabulation sheets.
9. Tall and Short 17 and younger divisions: Because a youth competitor cannot
control what division (tall or short) they may be put in at different tournaments, they will be rated in the division that they compete in the majority of the time.
10. After the third World tournament, new ratings will be tabulated for each "World" tournament. A competitor's rating points will only show up in
the ratings if he/she sends their tabulation sheet to the NASKA office. We must have the tabulation sheet in the NASKA office at least 12 days in front of the next World tournament to guarantee it is included in the most current updated ratings. NASKA ratings can always be seen on our NASKA Web site at
www.NASKA.com. Rating sheets will also be available at all World tournaments. NASKA ratings will also be published in several regional and national magazines as well as all NASKA Publications.
11. It is the goal of the NASKA rating office to have the most accurate and timely ratings as possible. For this to happen there needs to be a
good working relationship between the competitor, the promoter and the NASKA office. Out of thousands of competitors that participate in NASKA events each year, 99.9% of NASKA competitors are completely honest about
their tournament wins and division/s selections. In a very few cases a competitor may try to manipulate their point totals dishonestly to gain an advantage over another competitor. When a competitor is caught
deliberately falsifying his/her tabulation sheets, he/she will be totally excluded form the ratings.
12. If a competitor is totally suspended from the NASKA tournament circuit for any reason, he/she will be excluded form the ratings.
